Thirty years of sweetness......

Ellen Dijkman

Ode to Marlene……
30 years of sweetness….

Beneath the skies where mountains sigh,
where snow and sunlight softly lie,
there bloomed a fruit, so fair, so true
a gift of earth, in morning dew.

Her name is Marlene, crisp and bright,
a ruby kissed by golden light.
for thirty years she’s graced the trees,
whispering love upon the breeze.

She holds the blush of alpine dawn,
by tasting all my worries are gone
with every bite, a tale unfolds
of nature’s warmth and farmer’s soul.

Oh Marlene, apple of delight,
you’ve turned the seasons into light.
for thirty years, you’ve reigned with grace
a timeless smile on nature’s face.

So here’s to you, sweet fruit divine,
with juice like love and skin that shines.
forever may you bloom and grow,
in orchards kissed by sun and snow.

Let's meet each other in South Tyrol and make a start
for another thirty years of beautiful memories in our heart
Make our dream come true and let us be
the most beautifull apple of the Marlene-tree……

DESCRIPTION

I created this poem together with my friend, whose roots are in England. With a good glass of wine and pieces of Marlene apple, we got into the right flow. With our eyes closed, we already imagined ourselves in the Marlene orchard! Because what this poem says is that Marlene is more than just an apple.

INSPIRATION

We enjoy playing with language. An English poem was really a challenge!
